Located between the southwestern Alentejo and the Algarve, an area of 280 hectares of exploitation of young shoots, watercress, salads and aromatic herbs.

Their commitment to responsibility led the company to adopt hydroponics, which consists of replacing soil with a neutral substrate (felt, sand, clay balls, etc.).

The hydroponic system has the advantage of limiting diseases and therefore reducing the use of phytosanitary products.

Vital for the plants, water plays a primordial role in this culture, it leads all the essential nutriments to the plants.

Passion and respect for the environment have always guided the client in their endeavors, so it made sense within the company to want to treat their crop water to ensure the freshest, tastiest and healthiest products all year round for their customers.

For water with 70% transmittance over 10mm, in 2013 BIO-UV set up their RW6273/400 reactor with 6 low pressure amalgam BP AM UV-C lamps, guaranteeing at least 3 log abatement on E.Coli & Coliforms. 125m3/h of water are treated to offer a water enriched with good nutrients to salads and herbs.
