Ozone (O₃) is a highly active form of oxygen (O₂), more effective than most chemical treatments such as chlorination. Ozone is a potent natural oxidising gas with virucidal, germicidal, bactericidal and fungicidal properties, capable of oxidising all organic and inorganic compounds.

It has the unique property of decomposing back into its original form of oxygen. It also acts as a flocculant, producing crystal-clear water with no odour or taste.
