Electrical / Automation Engineer
Job Description
Electrical / Automation engineer for the design and development of Ozone / UV electrical control systems for new and existing products within BIO-UV group.
Job Duties:
- Design of electrical control systems integrating a PLC (full autonomy) and peripherals including mass flow controllers, inverters, pumps, gas/fluid sensors etc.
- Creation of electrical wiring schematics, cable schedules and Bill of materials.
- Programming of Schneider or Siemens PLC’s for electrical control systems, including Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP communication to external systems and communication to internal components using 24V digital I/O’s and RS 485/232.
- Ensure the system designs comply with the relevant directives and industry standards of CE, UKCA, UL, and C-UL (according to the product) – including the Machinery and EMC directive, and any relevant Ingress Protection, Safety, and functionality requirements.
- Oversee the electrical assembly of systems and ensure the systems are built to the required specification.
- Assistant in developing test schedules and oversee and provide support during in-house validation testing.
- Assistant and support in the successful testing and award of third-party certification for electrical safety and EMC.
- Assist in the creation of system documentation, including O&M manual and technical datasheets.
- Assist and support in the maintenance and upgrading of existing products.
- Provide technical assistance and support for production, purchasing and sales departments if required.
Profile Skills and Qualifications:
- Practical and demonstrable experience in programming Schneider and Siemens PLC’s and electrical design.
- Experience in Modbus TCP – EtherNet/IP Communication Protocol and RS-485 /232 serial communication.
- Experience of developing, testing and optimising new PLC software.
- Experience in thermal design for calculating heat dissipation for control panels.
- Experience of programming in C++ and STM32 microcontroller would be an advantage.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or other relevant topic.
- Experienced in using electrical design software.
- Able to operate autonomously when required but must be a good team player with a good sense how to operate in a collective.
